This was the third station, but I was hoping to visit today and did, courthouse and jail rocks, names that were given to these mindless by the pioneers who needed some references for them, although there were many others that were given. What was important about these two rocks is that it was the first thing actually recognizable along the trail that convinced them that they were heading in the right direction, to the Oregon Trail and then later to the California Trail. The Donner party camp somewhere nearby them, but all trace is gone.
